Underneath us, O how easy;
We have not to mount on high,
But to sink into His fullness,
And in trustful weakness lie.
And we find our humbling failures
Save us from the strength that harms.
We may fail, but underneath us
Are the everlasting arms.

Elisabeth Elliot used to begin her radio broadcasts with , “Hi, this is your friend, Elisabeth Elliot, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” I loved being reminded of some of Mose’s last words in Deuteronomy 33: …As your days, so shall your strength be. There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to help you, and in His excellency on the clouds. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms… Gone to these verses tons of times for comfort and assurance.
